Downspout Drainage & Extensions
Roof water dumping next to the foundation is the most common cause of wet yards and damp basements. We bury and reroute downspouts so the water ends up far from the house.
Get roof water away from the house
A single roof can shed thousands of gallons in a heavy rain, and most of it comes out of a few downspouts. When that water lands next to the foundation, it soaks the soil, erodes beds and finds its way toward the basement. We extend, bury and reroute downspouts to a safe discharge point.
For buried lines we use solid, smooth-wall PVC instead of corrugated pipe. It lasts longer and doesn’t crush or clog as easily.
What’s included
Underground tie-ins
Buried solid PVC lines from each downspout to a safe outlet.
Pop-up emitters
A clean, hidden outlet at grade.
Curb or street discharge
Lines run to the curb where the town allows it.
Above-ground extensions
Where burying a line is not practical.
Repairs
Fixing broken tie-ins, crushed lines and clogged outlets.
Drywell connections
Tie downspouts into a drywell when there is no place to discharge.
How it works
1. Roof and grade check
We look at every downspout and find the best discharge path.
2. Written plan
A clear plan and price before we start.
3. Utilities marked
JULIE marks utilities before we dig.
4. Clean install
Trench, install, backfill and restore the lawn.
Questions we hear a lot
How deep do you bury the pipe?
Typically 8 to 12 inches, deeper where the grade or frost requires it.
Why PVC instead of corrugated pipe?
Solid, smooth-wall PVC lasts longer, is easier to clean and doesn’t collapse under the soil.
Will this keep my basement dry?
Managing roof water is the first step. If water is still coming in, we can look at grading, drains and sump discharge too.
